Come and experience an authentic day immersed in mountain traditions at the Fête Alpine, an event that celebrates local farmers and their traditional skills.
Programme for the day:
10.00 am: Opening of the festival with the alphorn
10.00 am–12.00 pm: Outdoor demonstration of the traditional production of a wheel of Beaufort AOP cheese by the La Vallée des Arves Dairy Cooperative.
10.30 am: ‘Coup’ sauc’ (a game of skill to win a sausage) and an appearance by Arvi, our mascot
11 am–11.15 am: Sheep herding dog demonstration
11.15 am: Weightlifting and tug-of-war demonstrations
12.00 pm: Lunch begins under the marquee to the sound of the alphorn. On the menu: Savoyard salad, diots and croziflette, a slice of bread and a portion of Beaufort cheese, apple tart
– Lunch can be enjoyed under the marquee or taken away (tickets on sale online or at the Tourist Office in advance; places are limited).
2.00 pm: Alpine horn performance on the snow front
2.00 pm–4.00 pm: Jeanette, the FACIM’s little cow
2.00 pm–6.00 pm: Caricaturist
2.30 pm: Meet the farmers
3.15 pm: Demonstration of hand mowing
3.40 pm: Demonstration of making hay bales the old-fashioned way using donkeys
4.30 pm: Can-carrying competition
5.00 pm: Dances by the folk group Les Soldanelles and Arvi performance
5.30 pm: Competition results: a winter break in Saint Jean d’Arves to be won

Meals:
• Menu: Savoyard salad (green cabbage, Savoie cheese, walnuts and raisins), diots in white wine with caramelised onions and croziflette, a slice of country bread with a slice of Beaufort cheese, apple tart
• Price: €18 per adult – €12 for under-12s
