At the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves from Le Chalmieu

When you put on your hiking boots in the parking lot, you can already see them... The Aiguilles d'Arves beckon to you, like three stone giants. Answer the mountain's call and come and see them up close: they have so much to tell!
This hike is full of treasures, from the beauty of the scenery to the history of the plateau and mountain pastures.
An orientation table shows you the summits with their evocative names.
Recognize the "Tête du Chat"?
And look at the altitudes indicated: most of them are close to 3,000 metres!

The hike gets off to a gentle start on a wide forest track leading up to the last chalet, Chalet de la Motte.
After crossing the footbridge that allows you to cross the stream without getting your feet wet, the slope becomes steeper.
The path leads into an increasingly mineral and chaotic landscape. A few more efforts, and you find yourself at the foot of the three majestic dames, which raise their peaks to touch the sky. You can now contemplate them from their best angle.
Each has its own name.
Aiguille Centrale (3513 m) was first climbed in 1839 by the Magnin brothers.
The Aiguille Méridionale 3514 m to the south, climbed by Coolidge in 1878, is the highest point.
The Aiguille Septentrionale, linked to the Aiguille Centrale by the Aiguilles d'Arves pass at 3163 m, is also known as the Tête de Chat.
Next, the free route you'll be taking will take you to the Chalet de la Motte via a different path.
This little path passes beneath the Aiguille de l'épaisseur, where only a few traces of the glacier that once resided here remain. Now all you can see are small streams and marmot burrows.
Once we've reached La Motte, we return by the same route, but with a different view. Once you've admired this magnificent tableau, you can turn around and look forward to another spectacle. This time, it's towards the valley that the path and your gaze plunge...
