Saint Jean d’Arves is, before everything, a village, and then a resort. Composed of thirty spread hamlets, with an outstanding exposure, the town includes the renowned Aiguilles d’Arves.
These mountains became the emblem of the village and of the whole Maurienne with its ‘aiguilles’ easily recognizable and their beauty so much admired.

The town has kept the look of a small village with its recent constructions in the form of chalets totally integrated in the landscape. These new habitations integrate perfectly with the old farms still in activity. Although tourism is the most known field of activity of the resort, agriculture takes a central place in the life of the village

The Cheese shop Coopérative of the Valley des Arves collects throughout the year, the production of milk from the farmers of the valley in order to make Beaufort AOP. Thanks to the farming activity, inhabitants can stay throughout the year in the village; Saint Jean d’Arves offers a true mountain village atmosphere.

Saint Jean d'Arves also offers activities for all ages. Young and old alike will find their own rhythm on foot, on horseback or even on mountain bikes...
Every week the Tourist Office prepares a rich programme of activities : torchlight walks, guided tours, pasture milking, teens party, mini disco...
